Last month, 14 Junior School students raced ahead of the pack at the HakD 2024 event, "The Need 4 Speed," hosted by Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong (DCSPD). HakD (Hack Dulwich) is a hackathon that challenges students with real-world issues, pushing them to devise groundbreaking solutions in teams.

This Hackathon drew Junior and Senior school students from across China, transforming into an event of discovery and innovation. Representing Dulwich College Beijing, Cissy, Lisa, Serena, Cindy, Joey, Alex, Will, Samuel, Ted, Alex, Sunny, Leo, Tiantian, Terry, and Quentin from Year 6 journeyed to the DCSPD Campus, joining forces with peers from various cities.

Upon arrival, an electric atmosphere of camaraderie and ambition welcomed them. Teamed up with students from other campuses, they plunged into the hackathon, brainstorming, coding, and crafting innovative solutions to global challenges with relentless energy.

But the adventure didn't stop there. Keynote speakers ignited their imaginations, speaking on the future of learning at higher education levels. Workshops equipped them with hands-on skills, enriching their proposals and everyday problem-solving abilities.

Among these bright minds, Cissy and Lisa shone brilliantly, their exceptional teamwork earning them the prestigious Chong’s Award for Dedication to Teamwork and Synergy. Their project showcased the transformative power of combining technology and creativity to reshape education. The event was an undeniable triumph, marking a milestone in the journey of these young innovators.
