Oscar-nominated Animator and Disney Director Spent One week in DCB
Last week DCB had the privilege of hosting visiting animator and illustrator Aaron Blaise. Aaron Blaise was an animator at Disney for 20 years. He designed and animated iconic Disney characters from films including Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. During his visit, Aaron delivered a series of lectures and workshops to all students from reception age to Year 12, as well as professional development workshops to our teachers.
It was truly inspiring to hear about his career and watch his drawing and animating masterclasses. However what made Aaron's visit truly special was his generosity of spirit and love of sharing learning with students. At lunchtimes he would speak to students working on house art projects, give impromptu tutorials to Year 13 art students and even made original drawings of his characters which will be auctioned at the Dulwich Dinner Dance 2018. Students who participated in Aaron's workshops will now transfer the skills they learned to real life illustration design projects for clients including the International Wild Animal Fund and Smile Angel Foundation. Aaron has said he is looking forward to seeing their work and had nothing but positive comments to say about the character and nature of our students and the people of China. We hope you enjoy a selection of photographs from a memorable week , also the ones of Aaron making many friends in the hutongs of Beijing.
