How we welcomed the Year of the Dragon at Dulwich College Beijing

Dulwich College Beijing

Before heading off for our Chinese New Year holiday, Dulwich College Beijing welcomed the new lunar year with vibrant and festive activities. This cultural immersion offered our international school students not only opportunities to take part in Chinese performances, but also firsthand experiences of local traditions, customs, and rituals, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our host country's culture and diverse cultural practices.

At Dulwich College Beijing, our students learn Mandarin until Year 10, and events like these offer our students ample opportunities to apply their language skills outside the classroom setting.

Students and parents fluent in Mandarin were able to proudly showcase their cultural heritage, promoting intercultural understanding. We saw a variety of events including bazaars, dumpling-making sessions, lion dances, our annual Chinese New Year galas and more – all aimed at fostering an appreciation for local culture through engaging experiences while strengthening our bonds as a multicultural community.

Thank you to the members of our community who made this possible, and we wish everyone a healthy and prosperous Year of the Dragon!
