During the spring break (March 31 – April 6),  Bonnie H (Deputy Head Girl) and Biruk A (Head Boy) led 32 Key Stage Three students to Yunnan province  to participate in three and a half days of service work at the foster home and migrant school, as a part of their Yunnan Project.  The Yunnan Project was founded two years ago by Bonnie and Biruk to further enhance our service projects at school. Both students had a vision to increase social awareness and understanding  of the wider local communities among our students and to make more tangible impact on their lives.

It was fantastic to see our Key Stage Three students interact and bond with children who have been pen pals during the academic year. Students taught and led activities at the local migrant school that they created. This included sports, arts and crafts, dance, music and English. Murals were also made to decorate the foster home.  One aspect of the trip became very clear – a mutual learning objective was created as students and host children connected and taught each other strong life lessons.

We are also extremely proud to see that this student initiated and student led charity project has received a broader recognition among the whole Dulwich community with profits from this year's Dulwich Dinner Dance, organised by our Friends of Dulwich parent organisation,  being donated to this cause as well!
