Friends of Dulwich

Dear DCB community,

First of all, Barbara and I would like to express our heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our committee members and volunteers who have led and supported events and activities this school year to date. It was amazing to see over 60 parents volunteer and get involved in big events such as the Dulwich Games, for which DCB was the host this year. As the children started this year with hearts full of passion, participating in all kinds of school sports and musical events, us, we, as parents, have also been busy volunteering to serve the children and the school while planning all sorts of events for parents to connect and bond.

Working closely with parent representatives and volunteers, FoD has initiated more than 8 parent clubs, including the Chinese Opera, Choir, Dad’s Football/Basketball, Dance, Tennis and more. Parents can come join and participate or just watch and cheer as audiences.

As for performances so far, DUCKS parents had presented their annual big production, the Spider & Pumpkin Show at the end of October; Cultural Club’s Great Wall hiking; Parent Seminar “How Does Life Resonate Within Our Heart” – a life lecture about how we can help and protect nearly extinct living creatures on earth such as the White Dolphins. Upcoming exciting events such as the Parent Choir, for the first time, will be presenting at the Beijing Hall close to Christmas time; Earth Day event which is relevant to the life lecture we have been promoted and DCB Gala Dinner.

As parents, we are proud that our children are receiving the best international education at Dulwich College Beijing. But more than that, as part of the DCB community member, you should also know that Friends of Dulwich is a link to connect you and your family with our school.

Strengthening the connection between DCB families and the school is FoD’s most important mission. To achieve this mission, FoD volunteers create opportunities for parents to connect with the College by organising regular events covering multiple topics, including:

Our parent community has always been supportive, caring, and positive. They have supported the College and played a crucial role in bringing the community close together on many occasions, from helping with the settling-in of new families to organise community events. They have contributed to community life and, ultimately, student learning in a meaningful and profound way. It is impressive to witness the passion, efforts, and positivity displayed by our parent representatives, volunteers, and each and every one of the DCB parents.
