Worldwise Alumni Network reconnection evening

On Monday 14 December 2020, the first of what promises to be many official events of Dulwich College International’s Worldwise Alumni Network (WAN) was held in Beijing, at the Shangri-La China World Summit Wing Hotel. Ten International Old Alleynians from Dulwich College Beijing and one Old Alleynian from our founding College in London came together for an introduction to WAN and a chance to network over hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

The event was co-hosted by Dulwich College Beijing’s Head of College, Mr Anthony Coles, and Dulwich College International’s Director of International Outreach and Alumni Engagement, Mr Lucien Giordano.

“What was apparent on the night was the enthusiasm our alumni had for staying connected, both to each other, and the broader Dulwich community,” said Anthony Coles. “WAN provides opportunities for alumni to engage, stay connected, inspire and be inspired by the talent that exists within this network.”

In attendance were International Old Alleynians (IOA) from the Classes of 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2020. It was inspiring to hear the stories of our young alumni, some of whom are beginning their university journeys in the virtual classrooms of the United States and Canada while others have already graduated from university and are into their careers or graduate school. It was a great reminder of what we believe is the importance of giving our alumni chances to build personal and professional networks with each other worldwide while reinforcing the strength of our relationship with Dulwich College Beijing’s IOAs. As a matter of fact, the Shangri-La China World Summit Wing Hotel is run by the OA who was in attendance and whose children currently attend Dulwich College Beijing.

explain about this evening

As Lucien Giordano commented, “The future of the Worldwise Alumni Network is exciting. Everywhere we have a school will develop a unique culture for supporting our alumni, as evidence by this event in Beijing. We want any International Old Alleynians traveling through or living in Beijing to feel they have a home base there. At the same time, we are developing social and professional opportunities for our alumni in major cities worldwide.”

As and when travel restrictions ease, we will be announcing new events to be hosted worldwide along with virtual opportunities to engage and grow professionally.
