Teddy Bear Gymnastics 2025: Fun, Team Spirit, and House Pride!

Last Friday, we held our annual Teddy Bear Gymnastics, where our DUCKS students took part in various activities to put their gymnastics skills they’ve learned in their PE classes to the test in challenges and competitions against other teams.

This year’s Teddy Bear Gymnastics has transformed into a day-long House event that includes an Art Activity, Silly Storytime and Scavenger Hunt. Every DCB student belongs to a House, allowing students to connect and collaborate with their peers outside of academics. This long-time tradition also helps our students develop a sense of belonging, building their confidence and skills and supporting their wellbeing. Read more about our House system in DUCKS here.

Our parents also enthusiastically cheered on our students, either on the sidelines or to assist teachers as our kids ran, tumbled, and jumped their way across obstacles and challenges. Our Junior School House Captains also joined us to support our DUCKS event, to the delight of the young House members who looked up to the young leaders as role models.

Ms Tracey Francis, our Head of DUCKS, was proud of the event’s success and the energy and excitement that filled our DUCKS community that day. She also thanked Mr Zhang, our Head of Houses in DUCKS, and Ms Carol Berkery, one of our DUCKS teachers, for organising the event. “This year’s Teddy Bear Gymnastics event was a great success. Mr Zhang and Ms Berkery had planned some exciting activities that gave the children many opportunities to win House points throughout the day. Each House took part in a scavenger hunt around school and was tasked with using their creativity and open-mindedness to design and make their own teddy bear and teddy bear’s picnic.”

William Zhang shared how this event provided a fantastic opportunity for our young learners to demonstrate their physical literacy by showcasing their gymnastics and fundamental movement skills but also embodying the DCB values throughout their play. “Their enthusiasm, determination, and teamwork truly shone through the day!”

Carol Berkery shared that the School Council recently voted to organise a House art competition during the Teddy Bear Gymnastics event. This event encouraged students to express their creativity by crafting teddy bears in their respective house colours and designing imaginative backgrounds to illustrate the adventures their teddy bears were embarking upon. The day was a tremendous success, showcasing the artistic talents and enthusiasm of all the students in DUCKS.

Our Head of College, Anthony Coles, also extended his gratitude to the people who made the day possible. “It was great to see how confident the students were in their routines. A lot of fun was had by students and enjoyed by the parents and grandparents on hand to see the display. Congratulations to the students and staff for this fun event.”
Thank you to our teachers, staff members, and volunteers for helping to make this event a success!
