Dr Gavin Hornbuckle

Head of University and Careers Counselling

Originally from the United States, Dr Gavin Hornbuckle taught History and Social Studies in Ecuador, Mexico, and the US before transitioning to college counselling in 2010. Since then he has served in university counselling roles in Singapore, Korea, Brazil, Hong Kong, and now Beijing. He has also recruited American university students to study outside the United States and directed study abroad programs in Cuba and Mexico. Additionally, he spent a summer as a travel writer in Honduras and El Salvador and is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and French and is currently trying to learn Mandarin. When he is not working, he enjoys hiking, cycling, travelling, and trying new restaurants. 

Dr Hornbuckle holds an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership. Policy and Development from the University of Minnesota, an Ed.M. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and a Bachelor of Science in History with minors in Political Science and Education from Iowa State University. He is actively involved in mulitple international college counselling organizations as a committee member, presenter, and volunteer.
