Sean Simkins

Assistant Head (Student Support Services)

Sean Simkins comes from the historic city of Chester in Northern England, and he graduated from the University of Chester with a degree in French in 2010. He completed his PGCE at The University of York, UK in 2011, and taught Languages for two years in UK State Schools. He quickly realised his passion lay in the primary setting and he became a transition coordinator to assist children and their families alongside Parent Support Advisors. In 2013, Mr Simkins became a Senior Governor for Safeguarding, Teaching & Learning and Performance; working alongside teachers to improve their classroom practice. Over time, he became interested in whole-school leadership and completed the six month Head Teacher Training Programme, accredited by the UK Department of Education.

Before joining DCB in 2018, he was Deputy Head of the West Norfolk Academies Trust in East Anglia and was Designated Safeguarding Lead and Trainer. He completed his Master of Science in Child Mental Health and Psychological Practice in 2023 through The University of Edinburgh, in which he focussed on the importance of parenting approaches on a child's overall wellbeing. He has been working at DCB since 2018, and is Assistant Head in charge of Student Support Services. He has also recently undertaken the EIM ASPIRE Headship Programme and has almost completed his National Professional Qualification in Headship.
