UK National Space Academy Director Brings Mars to DCB
Last week, Professor Anu Ojha, OBE, Director of the National Space Academy in the UK, came to give a series of fascinating lectures and demonstrations about space exploration to Year 11, Year 9 and Year 5 students. The topics ranged from the vast scale of space and the challenges facing rocket scientists, to the hidden views that lie in the non-visible parts of the electromagnetic spectrum (as demonstrated by showing that bin bags are transparent to infrared radiation) and what satellites reveal to us about the reality of climate change. As a special treat, Professor Ojha brought rocks from Mars and the Moon to hold and behold. Both staff and students left feeling inspired at the end of his mind-expanding presentations!
