The results are in! The Dulwich Musician of the Year competition results have been announced and we are proud to celebrate that Dulwich College Beijing’s very own Carla Q from Year 6 has tied for first place in the Junior School division!

Carla Q

As the winner of last year’s DCB Junior School Young Musician of the Year competition, Carla was nominated to compete in the finals for the Dulwich-wide competition this year in the Junior School division. There were 26 competitors from 6 Dulwich schools who submitted very high quality recorded performances for adjudication. This year’s judge was Australian composer and instrumentalist Paul Jarman, who had a very difficult decision on his hands! The competitors were judged on a 100-point rubric and not a single competitor scored less than 94 points, so the competition was indeed fierce. With a score of an impressive 99 points, Carla took the lead and tied with another incredible musician from Dulwich Singapore.

Carla worked tirelessly to prepare a beautiful piece for the competition. She performed Sonata Number 12 in E minor by Niccolò Paganini, and what an incredible performance it was. Congratulations to Carla! DCB is so proud of you!
