More University Offers: Oxford, Brown, and More
Following our previous update, DCB is proud to share more good news and additional university offers, including two from the University of Oxford as well as a successful Early Decision application to Brown University, an Ivy League institution.
Carmen de Z, one of our former Head Prefects, who has received a conditional offer from Oxford to study law, shares the challenges each applicant goes through and the importance of having a supportive community. “Over the past two years I’ve learnt that applying to university is like any other rollercoaster ride: intense but exhilarating. Initiating and determining your future pathway is a time that is universally daunting- but one that you must not lose hope in. Being accepted to Oxford Law feels like one step closer to achieving a lifelong dream, not just in outcome but in the resilience, hard work and the relentless hope that has come to define it. I’m proud of this achievement and all the people that have contributed to it. From Ms Anderson cheering me on in the corridors to Ms Tomaszun even lending me her office to nap before my interview, I’ve been truly touched by all the overwhelming support and love I’ve received in DCB. And I’m extremely grateful for it.”
Sophie S, another former Head Prefect, who has received an offer from Brown University, also shared how much she valued her friends and family’s support throughout her university application process. “I learned a lot more about myself. For me, those few people who truly believe in you and take the extra effort to support you make the experience of high school experience special.”
A number of students received Early Decision admissions in the United States that best align with their ambitions and profiles, including top-ranked universities such as Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Chicago (2 students), Emory University, New York University (2 students), Northeastern University (3 students), and Babson College. Class members also were admitted to Arts degrees at the Pratt Institute, the Parson’s School of Design, and Emerson College, reflecting the diverse talents and interests of our students.
In the UK, students have received offers at highly regarded Russel Group institutions such as the University of St Andrews, Edinburgh, Warwick, Manchester, Durham University, and King's College London, as well as specialty universities like the Royal Veterinary College.
Their academic prowess has also led to offers at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Additionally, our students have received offers from excellent universities like the University of Ottawa and McMaster University in Canada, and Bocconi University in Italy.
Clare Anderson-Au, our Head of Senior School, also proudly said: “Congratulations to all our students so far on your remarkable achievement! This is a testament to your hard work, perseverance, and dedication. We are incredibly proud of you and look forward to seeing all the great things you will accomplish in the future. To those who have yet to receive your results, we look forward to celebrating your good news soon!”
