Bite-sized Magic: Year 3 Enchants with Hansel & Gretel Performance

Last week, our hardworking Year 3 students dazzled our audiences with their charming rendition of the classic fairytale Hansel & Gretel.

With whimsical props and costumes adding even more character to the already dreamlike ambience, our young students took our audiences on a journey through the mysterious forest past enigmatic creatures and eventually into a delectably inviting house. Our younger audience members watched with bated breath as our protagonists attempted to outlast and outwit a despicable witch and her nefarious appetite with the hopes of going back home.

Shared Year 3 Lead Andrew Abbey, “I am so proud of the efforts of the students and all of our staff to make our Year 3 production of Hansel and Gretel a fantastic success. Our students made the decision to perform Hansel and Gretel as it was a story that many of them were familiar with, but they were able to make the play their own with their fantastic enthusiasm for the show. For many of our students, it was their first time performing on stage. Their hard work and confidence in their performances was an absolute joy to behold. I hope that for some of our students, this opportunity to be on stage will be the spark that encourages them to develop their dramatic skills even more in the future.”

And we have no doubt that they will, especially after seeing how students who were completely immersed in their roles suddenly break into ear-to-ear grins with wide-eyed excitement as they did their best to stay in character, even stiffening their arms to keep from waving to their adoring parents in the audience.

Shared Jacinth Gurdon, Head of Junior School, “The students took great responsibility in learning their lines, and practising the songs that they sang within their class and should be very proud of the achievements. Every single one of them performed with such confidence and enthusiasm.”

Credit must also go to our wonderful teachers, assistant teachers and everyone else involved for the success of the production. Congratulations to everyone involved, and we look forward to what next year has to bring!
