World-Class Mentors from Oxbridge at DCB’s Debate Mate Festival
Last weekend, DCB hosted its second successful Debate Mate festival, where 7 world-class mentors trained 14 staff and 60 students. The mentors we flew in, all Oxbridge graduates or alumni, included the European University Debating Champion Matthew Willmore and the Vice President of the Oxford Debating Society Mia Smith among other excellent speakers. The students, ranging from Junior to Senior School, then formed mixed teams for the championship tournament on Sunday in the Wodehouse Theatre for a thundering, thoroughly entertaining crescendo to the festival. A great sign of things to come as many talented debaters took to the stage, and a wonderful showcase of the speaking talent flourishing in DCB!
