George Were
Teacher of Physics
Mr Were was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya and graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Statistics and Probability. After getting his teacher-training qualifications over 20 years, he began his career accumulating years of experience teaching in Kenya and in China. In 2019, he did his further education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education where he was trained in Bilingual teaching and how to help entry-level language learners acquire necessary collaboration skills in their learning environments. Throughout his career, he has invested a lot of time in undertaking continuous teacher-training courses (Cambridge, Edexcel and the College Board) in his subject areas and in 21st Century learning with specific interest in areas such as creativity and innovation, Global awareness and collaboration as well as the ability to use technology effectively and adapt to rapidly changing environments, all which contribute to life-long learning.
In 2022, Mr Were joined DCB from Dulwich International High School Zhuhai. He hopes to have a great impact on his students every day, not just in subject content but in areas of acquiring and using ‘soft skills’ to adapt and become worthwhile ‘servant leaders’. Outside of work, he loves listening to a good audiobook or podcast and meeting up with his friends and immediate family. He also likes to travel and appreciate different cultures.
